All the lives I wish I could experience

One of the things that I love about myself is that I try my hardest to continue to try new things and allow myself to enjoy what I am trying.

I have been lucky enough to experience quite a bit. If I had the option to break myself into little pieces, I would do quite a few things.

The physical therapist

I love understanding how the body moves, functions, and helping people prevent injury. I had a really hard time balancing school and alcohol. I also have a very hard time touching people; sometimes the body can really make me feel uncomfortable. If I was able to balance those things better, I would have loved to be a physical therapist. I would have gone to school a lot longer, I would have received my doctorate in physical therapy and would have learned a lot.

I'd be able to help people prevent injuries, runners, athletes, and help people who are recovering from giving birth, learning to walk again, from surgery, and many more things. I'd probably be a part of a team, and would really be able to enjoy learning a lot longer in school than I did. I would really be in a different situation than I am in today.

The archaeologist

Growing up watching Indiana Jones and digging up things in my backyard, I had such a great time pretending to find bones and fossils that I made up in my head. I went to a school where I could major in archaeology and could have taken that life on. I was always worried since I was so clumsy.

I wanted to travel the world like him and find all these ancient ruins, learn cultures, eat weird food, bring joy back to villages. There would be so many adventures that I would have been able to go on if I chose that path.

The Vet

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to help animals, learn about them and I think most animal lovers had a dream to be a vet at some point. The part that a lot of people do not think of is the hard stuff you need to do as a vet, put animals down, see people who may not be treating their animals well or have not learned how to take care of them, etc.

I would have wanted to work for a humane society, taking care of the animals who were surrendered, lost, hurt, or came from kill shelters. These animals need a lot of love, and a lot of support. It can be hard to remember that not all animals trust people, and that they need time to warm back up and trust people again. I know from my perspective, it took me a while to get my dog to learn to trust me.

I think I would have wanted to be a small pet vet, to be able to live in a town and help the animals in my community.

Not living here

I had opportunities many times to go and live in other places, different states, different countries, so many options. I have one coming up that I am trying really hard not to consider. I will figure it out once I actually go there if it is something that I could experience.

I always thought I would live somewhere other than the city or the state that I have been living in, I did not even go to school outside of the state. I think part of me knew this path, but another part of me was too scared to spend money on something like school.

I have wanted to live so many lives, and at the end of the day I am so grateful to live the life that I am living now. I had been feeling quite lonely, so I got a little part-time job and cannot wait to start that.

Regretting not living your other life options should never be something that you put too much weight on, maybe you wouldn't have been happy on that path. Maybe this path is the best path for you where you get to experience the most happiness. Find joy in the little things of each day, and remind yourself that even better things are just around the corner.
